Brittany is the most popular summer resort in France, after the french Riviera. Western France is the wildest and most untamed of all the french regions. This peninsula is situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the english Channel. Until XVIth century, Brittany has been an independent Duchy, it gives a very individual identity to this area: Breton people have a beautiful and rich culture, a breton language and an historical heritage closed to those of Scotland, Wales, and Ireland (...and a distinctive rich cuisine too !). The unspoiled beaches, rocky coves, soaring cliffs, and offshore islands are really attractive. Carnac and its world¹s most important megalithic sites, historical town of St-Malo french capital of the Sea, Dinard elegant XIXth century resort, visit the medieval marvel of Dinan, Rennes with its pedestrianed old city ideal for shopping, Pont-Aven or Quimper an exciting cultural town...do not miss picturesque fishing villages, or traditional festivals called ³fest noz² where all local people dance and drink a mervellous cider! Brittany is full of surprises...Do you know the legendary King Arthur? He still live here in the Paimpont forest, where the young Arthur received the sword Excalibur from the fairy Vivian. Mysterious and enchanting, Brittany is an unforgettable holiday destination.
